Editing/Writing
Services
Making your book sing is my passion; getting it off your hard drive (or out of your drawer) is my goal!
Having worked with dozens of independent authors, I know how vulnerable it can be to share your work, much less receive edits on it. My approach marries your desires with my knowledge about writing in order to make a successful finished product. Because each client is an individual, every approach looks a bit different; however the services listed here are the basics. I can mix two of these editing levels upon request.

1
Ghostwriting
Have you ever wished someone would just take your great book idea and make it into a reality? That's where I come in. Ghostwriting involves deep interviews where I pull your concept/story out of your head, turn it over with your help, and get it down on the page. Together, we wordsmith the chapters until you have the manuscript of your dreams.
2
Developmental Editing
This level of editing is for clients who have already written a draft and want feedback on what could be better. Developmental editing (by my definition) is the big picture view and includes comments on structure, voice, and tone.
3
Line Editing
This level of editing (sometimes called Substantive Editing) is where I roll up my sleeves and dig into the words of your message, line by line. Some clients prefer to have the problem spots flagged for them; others like me to fix the language for them. This is work I excel at because I have an innate ear for sentence flow and, conveniently, am a literary chameleon! I can adopt your voice to make the changes seamless.
4
Copy Editing
It takes a keen eye for detail and a good memory for style guide rules to be a copy editor. Good thing I have both! Copy editing is one of the last passages in your journey to publishing. When wearing my copy editor cap, I'm looking for typos, awkward sentences that were missed in previous edits, formatting inconsistencies, and alignment with your publishing style guide, which is usually Chicago Manual of Style.
